FAQ: What is the Kemetic Orthodox stance
on the theory that Kemetic gods (the
Names of Netjer) are actually not divine at all, but space aliens [or human
emissaries from some advanced society now extinct, such as the legendary
Atlantis, Mu or Lemuria]?
Kemetic Orthodoxy begs to differ with alien theorists -- Netjer is as real
and valid a manifestation of Deity as are Yahweh, Allah, Brahman or Gitchi
Manitou. Netjer is not described in any ancient text as having come from
anywhere other than the Nile Valley (and in addition, no Kemetic text
mentions any land corresponding to the legendary land theories; lands
mentioned are easily found on any map of the Ancient Near East).
The only ancient Near Eastern society that could possibly lend credence to
these theories is that of Sumer, which thrived contemporarily with Kemetic
culture, on the other side of the Middle East and separated from Kemet by a
vast distance. (The Sumerians believed that their Deities came from the
stars, and/or from outside their land.) We believe the aliens-in-Egypt
theories are the product of people with a vested interest either in denying
the validity of a successful pre-Christian religion (religious bigots), or
who need some other reason to explain how an African society could flourish
on its own, and be more "civilized" than any European society, thousands of
years earlier, without help from a more "advanced" outside group (racial
bigots).
